Having 4 brothers has gotten me to be quite a "gamer." Although I don't play as much as my brothers do, I'm still up to date with many new games because of them.
I like playing video games, but I don't make my life revolve around it. I know when to stop, and I know when I've had too much. I think video games are much more important to young children these days than they were before. I think that is because there are a lot of new gaming systems and games coming out faster than ever.
I think children these days need to play less games. When I was in 7th grade, our school started a program called "Daily Physical Activity," where we took 20 minutes from the day and went outside and participated in something active, whether it be playing basketball, or walking a couple of laps around the track. No one really knew why we had this program at first, but when we asked, they told us truthfully that it was because Ontario's youth are becoming obese. When I heard that, I was really disgusted. How can young children think video games are so important?
I have heard on the news a bit too many times about video games and children. There was a boy who hung himself after his father took away his Nintendo Wii, another boy ran away because he was banned from a video game. He was then later found dead. Also, there was a 15 year old boy who was hurt by playing World Of Warcraft for 15 hours straight. I don't think that anyone should ever play any game whatsoever for 15 hours at a time. That is insane.
Anyways, I think that children need to seriously lay up on the video games.
